( KTRS ) A temporary day shelter for the homeless in St. Louis is expected to be open this month, perhaps within a couple of weeks.
Officials say the shelter will be in a city building at 1520 Market St. that houses municipal courts, the city health department and other city offices. St. Louis Human Services director Eddie Roth says the city began a search for a temporary shelter after learning in October that the non-profit, Bridge Outreach, was losing its lease at a nearby church.
The temporary shelter could last through the end of spring, providing shelter for up to 200 people from morning until evening during the coldest months of the year.
