Maryland Heights, MO (KTRS) (Updated as of 4:00 p.m. Friday) St. Louis County prosecutor Bob McCulloch says two people are charged with murder in a stabbing attack that killed a Maryland Heights man and his toddler son and critically injured the man’s young daughter and aunt.
McCulloch says 20-year-old Traveon Sims is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and other crimes. His alleged accomplice, 21-year-old Onyai Turner, faces one count of first-degree murder and other charges. McCulloch says the family dispute led to the attacks. He says Sims was released from jail last year and had been staying with his relatives but it was not going well and he was kicked out. McCulloch says Sims and his girlfriend returned to the home in the 12000 block of Marine Avenue Thursday night and attacked the family.
The two suspects are being held without bond. Sims’s uncle, 33-year-old Malcolm Mathis the Second and his son, 22-month-old Malcolm Mathis the Third, were killed in the attack.
