FERGUSON, MO (KPLR) – Protestors wielding bullhorns and challenging the line of police in riot gear were not the only demonstrators on West Florissant Wednesday evening.
Members of a local Ferguson church brought in a band on a flatbed truck about six thirty. The lively gospel music quickly drew some protestors away from the police line. They sang and danced in the street praising Jesus and calling for peace in their town.
It sounded like a revival. Pastor Marquaelle Futrell of All Creation Church of God in Christ said his congregation wanted to bring the gospel to people who were hurting.
Church leaders then walked the half block to the police line where they offered prayers for the police and the family of Mike Brown.
Pastor Futrell said he and other pastors were asking the protestors to honor the Brown family’s wishes to let peace and justice prevail.
The church had permission from law enforcement to be there.
