ST. LOUIS (KTRS) A ruling in the murder case against former St. Louis Police Officer Jason Stockley has yet to be handed down, but a local law enforcement group believes he should be found guilty. The Ethical Society of Police represents African-American police officers on the St. Louis force.
In a video, a former board member of the the Ethical Society of Police, Reddit Hudson, says most police officers uphold the law. But he says when they don’t, they must be held accountable, “We have to challenge the system from inside but with unity, it’s harder to pick off individuals who stand up for what’s right. That’s why we put this call out.”
Stockley is charged with the 2011 shooting death of Anthony Lamar Smith, an African-American, following a police chase. The trial ended Aug. 9. Judge Timothy Wilson has yet to hand down his decision in the Stockley trial. Activists have warned of protests if Stockley is found not guilty.
