ST. LOUIS (KTRS) Only two weeks after being dismissed from a worldwide competition for consideration for a hyperloop route between St. Louis and Kansas City, organizers have put Missouri back in the running. This follows the creation of a coalition involving the Missouri Transportation Department, the St. Louis Regional Chamber, the Kansas City Tech Council and the University of Missouri.
A Los-Angeles-based company, Hyperloop One, is looking for sites worldwide to build its first tracks for its supersonic, tubular train. The inventor and entrepreneur, Elon Musk, is behind efforts to build the project in the U.S. The Missouri coalition was formed after Hyperloop One rejected the state’s first proposal. The coalition will use private funding to study options for the hyperloop route between St. Louis and Kansas City and how to fund its construction.
