COLUMBIA, MO (AP) — Columbia police say they have ended a search at a landfill for more evidence in a woman’s disappearance.

Police and the Solid Waste Utility employees searched the landfill after a man confessed to killing his wife, Megan Shultz, in 2006 and putting her body in a dumpster.

Remains of a woman believed to be Shultz were found at the landfill Sept. 18, although the remains haven’t been officially identified.

Police Chief Geoff Jones said in a news release Thursday the search since then did not uncover any additional evidence.

In August, Keith Comfort, Shultz’s husband when she disappeared, confessed in Wisconsin to killing her in Columbia.

He was extradited and is being held on $1 million bond in the Boone County Jail on a charge of second-degree murder.
