In a search that took less than a month, the University of Missouri has settled on its new athletic director according to multiple reports. MissouriNet was the first to have the news that San Diego State’s Jim Sterk would replace Mack Rhoades as AD at Mizzou.

The university has yet to confirm these reports, and may not until the hire is approved by the board of curators. Sterk has served atop the San Diego State athletic department since 2010, and has led the program to 32 conference titles, most in the always competitive Mountain West.
The SDSU football program is coming off an 11-win campaign in 2015, and is being picked by many to win the MWC this upcoming season. Its basketball program under Sterk’s watch had been to six straight NCAA tournaments up until this past season.
Sterk, 60, is a native of Washington state and most of his ties are to the Northwest or the west coast. He was recently named the National Association of College Directors of Athletics’ Athletic Director of the Year, and he currently serves on the selection committee for the NCAA basketball tournament.
