Saint Louis FC found the scoring touch early and often defeating conference rival Tulsa Roughnecks 7-1.
STL FC was strong on the attack, scoring three goals in the first half. Saint Louis native, Seth Rudolph, celebrated his first start for Saint Louis FC with a goal in the 4th minute, his first goal with Saint Louis FC.
The next goal came in the 17th minute when James Musa passed to Herrera, earning his team leading seventh goal of the season.
The scoring in the first half concluded with Jamiel Hardware scoring in the 32nd minute. He assisted himself as he ran past the Tulsa backline. Saint Louis had twelve shots; nine on goal while Tulsa had five shots; one on goal during the first half.
In the first five minutes of the half, Rudolph scored for the second time after taking a pass from Musa. Shortly after, in the 52nd minute, Herrera punched in his 8th goal of the season and the team’s 5th of the night from a Richard Dixon assist.
The goals kept coming for Saint Louis, with a 6th goal coming in the 76th minute for Jordan Roberts, marking his first goal in league play this season. The assists came from Takada and Cicciarelli. The 7th and final goal for STL FC came from Cicciarelli in the 79th minute after a breakaway pass from Hardware. This goal was Cicciarelli’s fourth of the season.
Caprio’s header from a free kick denied a STL FC’s shutout bid in the 85th minute and was the final goal of the 8 goal match.
Seth Rudolph was happy to score his first goal, “It really boosted the team confidence and paved the way for more goals throughout the game”.
Head Coach Dale Schilly hopes to develop a winning streak, using a Hardware-Herrera tag team. “Right now we are still in a recovery mode, and then it’s just a matter of opening the game up with better ball movement. Develop a relationship between 7 and 19 and once they really mesh we can hit a whole new level.”
