St. Louis, MO (KTRS) The remains of a fallen World War II soldier from St. Louis will return home today.
Staff Sergeant Michael Aiello went missing in action 73 years ago. Remains disinterred from an American cemetery in Belgium were identified through DNA as Aiello’s.
His remains are scheduled to arrive at St. Louis Lambert International Airport at 3 p.m and then will be escorted to the Springfield, Illinois area, where his family lived.
A funeral is planned for Saturday.
