NEW YORK (AP) – About a dozen protestors have stormed a $1,000-a-plate New York City luncheon where Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was delivering a speech.
Four protestors crashed the lunch Friday through the side stairs at The Plaza Hotel in Manhattan. They were forced out by hotel security staff as they chanted: “Trump is trying to bring us down, target people black and brown.”
Protestor Martha Acklesberg says about nine others who paid to attend the event stood up to make statements during the GOP frontrunner’s speech.
An attendee from the group Jews for Racial and Economic Justice says Trump quipped during the disruption but “when you’re the front runner you get a lot of attention.”
Trump’s appearance was sponsored by the Commonwealth PAC. It was closed to the media.
