The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that police initially said they weren’t chasing the car that crashed last month, killing 49-year-old Mikel Neil, who was driving, and his passenger, 59-year-old Townsal Woolfolk. But days later, video footage from a nearby business showed a county police car chasing the car with lights and sirens on.
Officers said they tried to stop the vehicle after it sped through a red light. County police policy doesn’t allow pursuits unless there’s been a felony.
Police officials are planning an internal affairs investigation but say it won’t start until the Missouri Highway Patrol completes its accident investigation.
Relatives say they want more.
