St. Louis, MO  (KTRS)  A shooting involving an off-duty Velda City police officer in south St. Louis is being investigated.

Authorities say the officer shot a man late Wednesday night outside of a bar at Spring Avenue and Potomac Street. The man was reportedly armed with a knife. Fox 2 News reports the shooting stemmed from an argument inside of the bar.

The man is in critical condition.
