New legislation in Missouri that takes effect Aug.28th includes a bill that honors a St.Louis County police officer killed in the line of duty. Part of a public safety package, Senate Bill 820, known as Valentine’s Law, was introduced by State Senator Tracey Mc Creery, is named for the late detective Antonio Valentine who was killed when his police vehicle was hit head-on by a suspect in a stolen car in St.Louis County.. This new legislation makes it a felony to flee from police during an attempted vehicle stop. The legislation taking effect today also contains bills banning celebratory gun fire and another that creates a Cyberstalking and Harassment Task Force.
