ST. LOUIS (KTRS) A candidate for the Parkway School Board who describes herself as a Confederate and who has posted anti-Islamic and racist comments on social media is coming under fire from local Muslim and Jewish groups. The Islamic Foundation of Greater St. Louis and the local chapter of the Jewish Voice for Peace say the candidate – Jeanie Ames – say comments Ames has made on Twitter and Facebook, including a reference to former First Lady Michelle Obama as a giant rat, makes her unfit to run for a seat on a public school board.

The executive director of the Missouri chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, Faizan Syed, said Ames’ comments are especially troubling because of the diversity in Parkway Schools.

KTRS has sent Ames a message on her Twitter account for comment.
