Molina’s edge over San Francisco Giants’ catcher Buster Posey is down to a shade over 5,000 votes. It’s the closest race right now in either league.
Matt Carpenter has yet to crack 1,000,000 votes at 3rd base, while Kris Bryant of the Cubs is approaching 2.5 million, to lead the position. Carpenter has since shifted to primarily playing 2B, but remains at 3B on the ballot.
Stephen Piscotty has cracked the top 10 in the outfield, but still remains almost 1.5 million votes behind Yoenis Cespedes in third place. Matt Holliday is running 12th.
Voting closes Thursday night at 10:59 pm CT on Thursday night.
