St. Louis, MO  (KTRS)  The Missouri Department of Transportation is urging motorists to exercise caution with freezing rain in the forecast.

That National Weather Service is calling for freezing drizzle mixed with light snow from 4pm to 5pm Monday in central and eastern Missour .  This could create icy conditions on the roadways.

MODOT reports that crews will be out treating roads ahead of this winter weather and through its duration.

“Traffic will surge at rush hour and streets and highways may be slick with freezing rain,” said Becky Allmeroth, MoDOT state maintenance engineer. “Drivers need to take it slow and leave plenty of braking room between cars.”

Another weather system is possible for Tuesday.
