Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft was adamant that he was doing the right thing as he defended his decision to cooperate with the White House in its national voter-fraud investigation. A decision that is not shared by secretaries of state in 44 other states.
Appearing somewhat combative during a CNN interview yesterday in which host Chris Cuomo quizzed him on the validity of the investigation, Ashcroft said -quote-“We do know vote fraud occurs” and added “We’ve had multiple cases (of voter impersonation) in just the six months that I’ve been secretary of state.” -end quote.
When Cuomo asked Ashcroft to single out just one case of voter impersonation Ashcroft refused to answer.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports it is waiting for Ashcroft’s office to specify how many verified voter impersonation cases Missouri has seen.
No evidence exists yet to agree with President Trump’s claim that more than three million people voted illegally in last November’s election.
