(KTRS) – Red light cameras are again in the crosshairs of Missouri lawmakers.
A proposal would completely ban the use of red light cameras. The announcement comes just months after the Missouri Supreme Court struck down red light cameras programs in St. Louis, St. Peters, and Moline Acres. The decision forced St. Louis not only to dismiss pending cases, but they also issued refunds to violators who had recently paid tickets.
The Post-Dispatch reports that opponents of the cameras say the programs strayed from promoting public safety and became cash grabs.
