JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) – A Missouri delegate to the Democratic National Convention says leaked emails indicating party leaders were favoring Hillary Clinton should prompt others to reconsider their support for her.
St. Louis attorney Brent Welder is a delegate for Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and a member of the party’s platform committee. He said Monday that emails from the Democratic National Committee made public by Wikileaks show the party’s nominating process has been “rigged” against Sanders.
Welder says superdelegates who aren’t bound to particular candidates should switch from supporting Clinton and instead help nominate Sanders.
But that appears unlikely to occur.
Missouri Democratic Party Chairman Roy Temple is one of those superdelegates supporting Clinton. Temple says he expects Sanders to stick with his endorsement of Clinton.
