(KTRS) – The oldest family-owned theater chain in America has a new owner.

Wherenberg announced they were being acquired by Milwaukee-based Marcus Theaters. The company says they will maintain the Wherenberg name. The sale will cement Marcus’ status as the fifth-largest chain in the nation.

Wherenberg operated independently for more than 100 years.
