ST. LOUIS (KTRS) Maull’s Barbecue Sauce is going through a change of ownership and will remain in production. That’s according to a statement from Stephen Maull, vice president of Maull’s. Maull says the Louis Maull Company is in negotiations for the sale of the brand to a St. Louis company.
The deal is anticipated to be finalized in 7-10 days. Maull says it’s expected the sauce will still be manufactured in St. Louis.
Maull says their goal is to ensure the Maull’s brand remains a St. Louis tradition. A message posted on the website to St. Louis-based Maull’s Barbecue Sauce reads it’s currently unable to process any orders.
The message led to speculation that the company, which lost two recent court settlements with its vendors, would be shutting down. In his statement, Maull said, “The Louis Maull Company expects that the buyer will continue to serve our customers by providing the same superior Maull’s BBQ sauce, just as we have since 1928. We are the oldest BBQ sauce brand in America and this transaction will ensure that the Maull’s brand continues to grow and expand. Our goal is to ensure that Maull’s brand remains a St. Louis tradition.”
