The Missouri State Highway Patrol identified the victim as 55-year-old Matthew Lawless, of Florissant. The patrol says he fell overboard Saturday, briefly resurfaced and then went under water again. His body was recovered Sunday morning near the Big Eddy Conservation Access. The patrol says he wasn’t wearing a life jacket.

The area is about 60 miles (95 kilometers) southwest of St. Louis.
