UPDATE: Fox 2 reports the child died Monday morning.

Barnhart, MO  (KTRS)  Investigators are searching for answers into why a Jefferson County mother killed herself after shooting her son.

Police say 49-year-old Tara Kelleher shot her 11-year-old son at the family’s Barnhart home in the 7200 block of Valley Drive early Saturday morning before turning the gun on herself.

The child is hospitalized in critical condition.
