ST. LOUIS (KTRS) Thursday, April 5, was Opening Day at Busch Stadium for the Cardinals … and apparently it was the first and only day Gioia’s Deli served its popular hot salami sandwiches at Busch. On its Facebook page Friday, Gioia’s said the sandwiches sold out before the first pitch but that their service and product quality standards were not met. “Sadly, we cannot have 100% assurance that our quality standards will be met at the ballpark, therefore, we are not going to allow our brand or products to be sold through that channel,” Gioia’s wrote.

The deli added that anyone who brings a ticket stub from the home opener will get $2 off their sandwich at any of Geoia’s 3 locations, downtown, The Hill and Creve Coeur.
