An audit of the Fox School district in Arnold uncovered spending discrepancies that are almost unbelievable. The report focuses on just two years under former Superintendent Dianne Critchlow who served ten years.
Some of the findings:
—She rung up about $100,000 on school district credit cards for personal items like shampoo, watches, and wedding gifts.
—Critchlow increased her own salary by about $20,000 over her contract without school board approval.
—The school board approved the purchase of a car for her of $34,000, but she bought one that cost $9,000 more
The audit also found that Critchlow awarded nearly $90,000 in compensation ot her husband (also a school administrator) that was never approved by the board.
When Critchlow left the district she was making more than $267,000 a year–one of the highest superintendent salaries in Missouri.
So where, do things go from here? Auditor Nicole Galloway says district officials plan to give an evidence the prosecutor’s office. Galloway says her office will cooperate with any investigation.
