(KTRS) – The Ferguson City Council may reconsider a proposed settlement with the Department of Justice this week.
Late Friday, the city got a letter from the DOJ that promised that any overhaul to the police force and municipal court would not create an unmanageable financial burden. In a statement today, Mayor James Knowles III said the city could avoid an expensive lawsuit if the council agrees to a consent agreement with the DOJ.
The City Council is set to meet Tuesday and could discuss an agreement, but a final vote is not expected until later this month.
