Belleville IL (KTRS)  Police are investigating after a badly decomposed body was found behind a metro-east gas station.

Investigators say a passerby discovered the male victim Tuesday night in the 1400 block of Centreville in Belleville.

According to the investigation, its believed the body had been there for 7 or 8 days. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.

The victim hasn’t been identified.
