PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Bill Cosby is demanding that the accuser in his Pennsylvania criminal case repay a confidential sex-abuse settlement because she cooperated with police who reopened the case last year.
The actor’s breach-of-contract lawsuit says the 2006 settlement bars Andrea Constand from “voluntarily” discussing the case with law enforcement.
The lawsuit says she had no legal duty to cooperate with police in suburban Philadelphia because she lives in Canada.
Constand and her mother met with police last year as police reopened the case and ultimately arrested Cosby.
The suit also faults Constand’s mother and lawyers for cooperating.
Cosby filed the suit under seal this month.
Constand’s lawyers want the case aired in public so they can defend accusations they did anything unethical or criminal.
The amount of the settlement hasn’t been disclosed.
