EDISON, N.J. (AP) – A New Jersey town has been ordered to reinstate a police officer who asked a woman to model lingerie for him when he responded to a hotel for a fire alarm.
Edison Township fired patrolman Anthony Sarni in October. Sarni admitted to authorities that he saw shopping bags in her room and was in uniform and with his sidearm when he asked the woman to try on underwear.
NJ.com reports a judge ruled Tuesday that Sarni should get back the gun and badge he’s accused of abusing.
Sarni’s attorney said his client, who has been suspended since 2013, risked losing some skills after three years of suspension and would have to go back to the police academy.
A township attorney says Sarni will be retrained and returned to work if he passes a fitness test.
