( KTRS ) The National Recreation and Park Association is partnering with Great Rivers Greenway and the City of Wellston to build a new park.

The new park – named Trojan Park, is part of the NRPA’s annual Parks Build Community initiative. Officials say it will be located on the southwest corner of Skinker and Etzel, between Olive and Page.

The planned park sits along the St. Vincent Greenway, which currently stretches to Porter Park on Delmar and will eventually connect Forest Park to multiple transit stops, as well as the UMSL campus. The new park is set to open October 2016.
