Madison County, IL (KTRS) A man suspected in the 2010 disappearance of an Alton woman is now facing charges in her murder.
Fifty-two-year-old Roger Carroll of Jerseyville charged on Thursday with first-degree murder and concealing a homicide in the death of 48-year-old Bonnie Woodward. The charges allege Carroll shot Woodward on the day she disappeared and burned her body.
Woodward was last seen on June 25th of 2010 talking to a man outside a nursing home where she worked. Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Gibbons says new information prompted police to search Carroll’s property, turning up Woodward’s remains.
Gibbons said Woodward’s death resulted from her 17-year-old stepdaughter running away to Carroll’s home.
