The St. Louis Cardinals have called up their number 1 prospect, and one of the top prospects in all of baseball, Alex Reyes. To make room for Reyes, the Cardinals had to disable Michael Wacha, with what the club is calling right shoulder inflammation.
Reyes, the Cardinals co-Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2015, is 2-3 this season for Triple-A Memphis, with a 4.96 ERA, with 93 K’s in just 65 1/3 innings pitched. Reyes regularly touches 100 mph on the radar gun, and recently dazzled during All Star Game weekend at the Futures Game.
The Wacha news a little more distressing with the right-hander having battled shoulder ailments before. He had made his 23rd start of the season just last night with apparently no issues. He’s 7-7 with a 4.45 ERA on the season
