(KTRS) – Fans of the NFL and supporters of plans for a new stadium in St. Louis got a big win Thursday. A committee on the Board of Aldermen approved a proposal that calls on the city to finance $150 million of the $1 billion project.
The 7-2 vote moves the bill to the full Board of Aldermen. The board will debate the bill tomorrow but must call a special session for next week to vote on the plan. There are still significant obstacles ahead for stadium supporters. Even if the full board approves the bill, the city must still secure funds for construction from the NFL and team owner.
The league is expected to decide next month if a team will move to Los Angeles.
