That major announcement is expected to be the naming of Alex Pietrangelo as the Blues’ captain for the 2016-17 season. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch was first to report.

It had been speculated going all the way back to the middle of last season that Pietrangelo was in-line to become the Captain-in-waiting behind David Backes. Once Backes departed St. Louis, Pietrangelo’s name naturally rose to the top of the list.
The 26-year old will be entering his seventh full season on the big club, and coming off a year where the Blues were on the cusp of the Stanley Cup Finals.
