St. Louis, MO (KTRS) Activists are calling for St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson to step down.
That comment made by Rochelle Higgins, an organizer with the St. Louis Action Council, was well received by those at a People’s Town Hall Thursday night.
“We demand the resignation of Mayor Lyda Krewson. Lyda you’re invisible! You’re already invisible! Why act like you can do the work!” exclaimed Higgins.
The town hall was held by activist groups in response to Krewson canceling her town halls last week amid the civil unrest. The event had a turnout of about one thousand people. State and local elected officials sat on a panel to take questions from the members of the community. Those panelist included Representative Bruce Franks, St. Louis Treasurer Tishaura Jones, Alderwoman Megan Green, and Committeeman Rasheen Aldridge.
Prior to the town hall, protesters held a demonstration in downtown St. Louis.
