Chesterfield, MO  (KTRS)  It’s an end of an era for St. Louis-based Monsanto as Bayer begins its integration of the over century old company.

Bayer executives held a meet and greet Wednesday morning at it’s Chesterfield facility to share its plans for the newly formed company.

Liam Condon, President of the Crop Science Division of Bayer, would not give a definitive answer on whether or not there will be layoffs, but did say job transfers are in the works.

“For sure some folks will be coming from North Carolina and relocating to St. Louis. We have some people from Germany relocating here. We’ll have some people from St. Louis going over to Germany.” Condon explained.

Condon did not elaborate on the number of employees who will be relocated.

Last week Bayer was given the green light to begin integrating Monsanto after completing the required sale of some of its crop science business. The German-based company Bayer became Monsanto’s sole owner in June, but had to hold off on integrating while it completed divestments demanded by regulators.
