MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. (AP) — A shattered Mike’s Hard Lemonade bottle is making it hard to cool off in one St. Louis suburb.
Maryland Heights is draining and refilling more than 400,000 gallons of water after the alcohol bottle wound up in the main pool at the city-owned Aquaport water park last week. Officials suspect teenagers of scaling a fence after the facility had closed and leaving the bottle behind.
City spokeswoman Gabby Macaluso says glass kept showing up in the pool filter despite efforts to vacuum the water and sweep the pool floor. A little girl also got a small glass splinter in her foot.
Health officials ultimately decided the entire water park would need to be drained. The pool will be closed for most of this week.
