Granite City, IL  (KTRS)  A child is hospitalized after being struck by a Madison County Transit Bus in Wood River.

Police say the girl was walking to school when she was hit along Route 111 at just after 7:30 a.m. Monday. The victim was treated at the scene by emergency personnel. She was then flown to a St. Louis area hospital with serious injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.
