St. Ann, MO (KTRS) A GoFundMe Account has been set up for a dog that was shot by police in St. Ann.
Police say officers were looking for a suspect on Hood Avenue Monday night. That’s when police say a family pet named Repo pinned down an officer’s police dog. This led to the officer shooting the dog.
Repo’s owner claims it didn’t happen that way and she plans to contact internal affairs. Repo is being cared for at an animal hospital. His leg had to be amputated as a result of the shooting.
The following is from the GoFundMe Post:
Help save Repo
Repo was on a walk with his mom June Field last night in St Ann. Police were driving by looking for a dangerous felon. Not once did they tell her to stay inside or advise her of the circumstance. The dog park is literally across the street. Repo got scared and darted off at one point. Mom was trying to locate him when she heard 5 shots fired. One of the officers came to her yard holding a shot gun stating “They just shot your dog”. Meaning the other jurisdiction. St Ann and Overland were present “searching” for this dangerous felon. Poor Repo was hit 3 times. His hind leg was shattered, he has a bullet lodged in his back. He is being transported to Veterinary Specialty Services from Advanced Veterinary Services for special care. AVS was able to stabilize him but he needs to have his lind leg amputated and the bullet in his back removed. This boy means everything to his owner. He is the sweetest boy and would never hurt anyone. These two are inseparable and have gone through so much to stay together. The veterinary care has already exceeded her capabilities, so we are asking for help. He will be treated at the Manchester location of VSS at 1021 Howard George Dr. Manchester, MO 63021. We need your help. They are saying the charges will be around $1K per day of care in ICU. That doesn’t include the surguries that are required. His care can be verified at VSSSTL.com
The officer that shot him insists he attacked his K9. Which we know isn’t true, and have sevral witnesses to attest to this. Channel 4 News has interviewed June as of this morning. She has also spoken to Channel 5 and 2. She has spoken to both police departments. Intends to contact internal affairs to get an investigation into this matter. We all hear about police officer’s shooting our beloved pets without just cause. We never expect it will happen to us. Repo was lucky enough to make it. Although he and June now need our help. Please give as much or as little as you can for EVERY penny counts. We can’t allow these brutal shootings of our beloved animals to continue. June is obviously overwhelmed with this situation so I’ve offered any help I can to assist. Repo is a wonderful, loving, companion and best friend. He deserves his chance to get well. Please help any way you can. Your love and generosity is so greatly appreciated!
I will keep everyone updated as I recieve any information.
Thank you all for your continued support and prayers.
