St. Ann, MO (KTRS) A man is in custody after an overnight police standoff in north county.
Police say officers responded to a call about a man barricaded in a car in a parking lot of a Shop ’n Save on St. Charles Rock Road in St. Ann late Tuesday night. He was armed with a gun and threatening to harm himself. The man surrendered peacefully several hours later and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Fox 2 News reports that police say the man is the nephew of Charles Cookie Thornton. He was the man who opened fire during a Kirkwood City Council meeting back in 2008, killing five people.
