East St. Louis, IL (KTRS) Dozens of communities in the metro-east are under a boil order.
Illinois American Water reports this is a result of a temporary drop in water pressure.Customers should bring their water to a rolling boil for 5 minutes before using for drinking or cooking. Water is okay for bathing, washing, and other common uses.
The boil order is in effect for the following communities: Alorton, Cahokia, Canteen Township, Caseyville, Centerville, East St. Louis, Fairmont City, Lovejoy, National City, Sauget, and Washington Park.
The boil order is expected to last through Friday.
The boil order has also forced three school districts to cancel classes today. Those are East St. Louis School District 189, Cahokia Unit School District 187 and Brooklyn Unit School District 188.
