St. Louis County, MO (KTRS) A man is dead after a five hour police stand off in south county.
Police say a woman called police around 7:30 a.m. Monday to report that her estranged husband was at her home on Mattis Road, despite a restraining order she had against him. When police arrived, the man barricaded himself in the garage.
A SWAT negotiator tried to talk the man into surrendering. At about 1 p.m. police heard a gunshot.
Members of the unit went into the garage and found the man with a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police say they had been called to the home five times since Aug. 17 for domestic assaults and disturbances.
The name of the suspect hasn’t been released.
