Everyone knows Bob Costas is from St. Louis, mostly because he never shuts up about it, but “Young Bobby Costas” got his start here in town at some other radio station, working for John Carney’s father, Jack. Well, “Young Bobby Costas” isn’t that young anymore, and in fact, he’s older than John Carney, so listening to Carney call one of the most legendary sportscasters “Young Bobby Costas” is kind of weird, which is exactly how the interview started.
Bob is heading to Rio this summer for the Olympics, and we had a chance to catch up to him before he goes abroad, to get his take on the ever increasing fragility of the Brazilian government, and whether or not he’s concerned about going to Brazil right now. Oh, and no joke – this is serious – one of the main symptoms of the Zika virus, is conjunctivitis: pink eye. The guy can’t catch a break!
