ST. LOUIS (AP) — Samuel Adeniran and Tim Parker scored first-half goals to propel St. Louis City to a 3-0 victory over Inter Miami on Saturday night.
Adeniran scored his third goal of the season, using an assist from Indiana Vassilev to give St. Louis City (13-8-2) the lead in the 28th minute. Parker scored in the 40th minute for a 2-0 lead at halftime. Parker’s third goal this season came with an assist from Aziel Jackson.
Eduard Löwen subbed in in the second half and picked up his sixth netter of the campaign, scoring unassisted in the 80th minute.
Roman Bürki saved three shots to earn the clean sheet for St. Louis City. Drake Callender had eight saves for Inter Miami (5-14-3), which falls to 1-4-1 all-time versus expansion teams. The club has never scored in four road matches against first-year teams.
St. Louis City improves to 8-3-1 at home in its first season of play. The Western Conference leaders are 8-0-0 at home when scoring multiple goals and 0-3-1 when they do not.
Inter Miami loses after playing to a draw in its last three outings. Inter Miami finished tied just 17 times previously since joining the league in 2020.
When the league returns to action on Aug. 20, Inter Miami will host Charlotte FC. St. Louis City will host Austin FC.
