Mizzou researchers find genome that protect soybeans

Researchers from the University of Missouri are making strides to help protect the valuable soybean crop. Scientists at Mizzou, the University of Georgia, and the Beijing Genome Institute have identified two genes can help defend soybeans from the root-knot nematode parasite, which causes more than $50 million of annual yield loss. The research was funded by the Missouri Soybean Merchandising Counsil. The United States is the world's largest producer of soybeans, growing roughly 33% of the world's supply. 

Three injured in Centerville shooting

Police in Centerville say three men were injured after being shot outside the Ernest Smith Housing Complex this morning. Detectives received a call just before 3 o'clock reporting shots fired. The men were allegedly involved in a dice game earlier in the night when a fight broke out. About an hour-and-a-half after the fight, at least one suspect returned to settle the score. Police say it is unclear how many suspects were involved. The injuries are not considered life threatening.

County police seek help finding robbery suspect

St. Louis County Police are asking for your help in finding a person involved in two robberies. One of the robberies took place in Delwood at the Advanced America Cash Loans store. That's where the unknown male displayed a gun before forcing a female employee to open the business's safe. He then peppered sprayed the woman and fled. The suspect is being described as a black male in his 20's, wearing a red, black and white striped shirt with black pants, black tennis shoes and wearing a red baseball cap. The second robbery took place at Missouri Payday Loans where again the suspect used pepper spray to demand money before fleeing on foot.
