There was a brief lockdown at Vashon High School today after a fight.
St. Louis City Police were called to the school after there were several fights between female students. Administrators place the school on lock-down and restricted movement between classes to restore order.
Fox 2 reports that nine students are facing charges. The lockdown has been lifted.
The search continues for three home invasion suspects.
Around 11 AM, four suspects attempted to rob a woman and her mother at their Olivette home. Neighbors heard the homeowner screaming and called police. Three of the suspects drove off and a fourth tried to run away. While officers searched for the suspects, the nearby Old Bonhomme Elementary school was placed on lockdown. Officials say it was only a precaution.
Officers caught one suspect and the lockdown was lifted. The remaining three suspects are on the loose.
WASHINGTON (AP) - The District of Columbia's police chief says the suspect who led police on a chase from the White House to the Capitol is dead.
Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy Lanier told reporters Thursday evening that shots were fired in two locations. Near the Capitol, police killed the woman driving the black Infiniti with a young child inside. She said the child, who is about a year old, is in good condition and in protective custody.
U.S. Capitol Police Chief Kim Dine said the incident is believed to be an isolated act unrelated to terrorism.
Tourists watched the shooting unfold on Constitution Avenue outside the Capitol as lawmakers inside debated how to end a government shutdown. Police quickly locked down the entire complex temporarily, and both houses of Congress went into recess.
A lockdown of schools in St. Charles County has been lifted.
Police say a man confronted an employee at Francis Howell High School and threatened to kill himself. A school resource officer removed the man from the building. That is when officers say the man tried to force his way into Francis Howell Middle School. Police were called and the men led officers on brief chase.
The suspect was arrested in the Chesterfield area. Police say no students were in danger and lockdown was soon lifted. A total of four schools were placed on lockdown.
Several schools just north of Alton, Illinois were placed on lockdown today.
Officials with the Southwestern Community School District #9 sent a letter to parents last night telling them that they discovered a possible threat to students. There was an increased police presence at several schools and backpacks, large bags, and coats were not allowed on the campuses today.
Schools that saw heightened security included Southwestern Middle School, Southwestern High School, Brighton North Elementary, Brighton West Elementary, Medora Elementary and Shipman Elementary.
Metro-east police continue to search for an armed man who held up the National Bank in Alhambra Tuesday afternoon.
The Madison County Sheriff's office reports that the bandit walked in the front door of the bank with a handgun and demanded cash from an employee. The robber took the cash, and then fled on foot.
Authorities locked now the near-by Alhambra Elementary School as a precaution while they searched for the suspect.
He's still at large.
Four Ritenour schools experienced a brief lockdown Thursday afternoon.
Police say a group of teens threw a brick at a passing car. The driver swerved in an attempt to hit the teen who threw the brick. The driver instead, collided with two houses, knocking down one homeowner's carport.
In total nine teens were arrested in connection to the incident.
The Early Childhood Center, Ritenour High School, Kratz Elementary School and Marvin Elementary School were all placed on external lockdown, meaning kids could not go outside for recess. The lockdown lasted from just before 1PM until around 1:20PM.
A brief scare at Scott Air Force Base this morning.
After reports of a man walking around with a gun, one building was evacuated and MP's searched the area. The all clear was given about an hour after the first report and no one was injured.
