Overland man shot to death
The St. Louis Major Case Squad is investigating a murder in Overland. Police were called to a home in the 9900 block of Iveland about 10 PM Sunday.
Police found a 22-year-old man who'd been shot to death just inside the front door of his home. Witnesses reported seeing three or four men fleeing from the scene.
Investigators are expected to release more information later Monday morning.
UPDATE: Charges filed in murder of Menard inmate
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - The Randolph County coroner has ruled another inmate death as a homicide at the Menard maximum-security prison in Chester in far southern Illinois.
Coroner Randy Dudenbostel says 35-year-old William Crowder died March 26 from "manual strangulation." The coroner classified the death as a homicide.
State's Attorney Jeremy Walker intends to file first-degree murder charges against a Menard inmate when he receives investigative reports.
He would not name the inmate but says the man is not due for release until 2013.
Crowder was found dead in his cell in the prison's segregation unit at 10:36 p.m. Crowder's was the third homicide since Jan. 31.
Walker previously filed murder charges against former Menard inmates for the deaths of 25-year-old Jason Hall and 64-year-old Yusuf Abuzir.
Two suspects sought in fatal Jennings shooting
Police are still looking for two men who shot and killed a Jennings man Friday night.
Police say 38 year old Anthony Sherill had been unloading groceries from his vehicle about 8 p.m. when the two men approached. Sherrill ran inside his home in the 5400 block of Hamilton, but the men followed. Police say the suspects shot Sherill in the chest inside his home and then fled.
Sherill was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police haven't released a possible motive for the murder.
Police ID woman found dead on Sunday morning
Police have released a person of interest in the case of a woman found dead in south St. Louis Sunday morning.
Police found 47-year-old Aretha Robinson in the alley behind the 2200 block of South Jefferson. The coroner determined Robinson was strangled. Officers picked up a person of interest, but have released the person without filing charges.
UPDATE: Children run for help after Jennings woman shot & killed; man in custody
UPDATE: The identity of a woman shot and killed overnight in Jennings has been released.
Police say 32-year-old Antoinetta Davis was found dead from a gunshot wound. A suspect is in custody after six children inside the home ran to police for help just before 2:00am Monday.
According to police, officers responded to a home in the 7000 block of Florence Pl. around 1:55 a.m. after the victim’s children reported their mother had been injured.
Police said when they arrived, officers found Davis dead from a gunshot wound.
Authorities said the six children, all preteens, were inside the home when the shooting happened.
A 40-year-old suspect, an ex-boyfriend of the victim and father of some of the children, turned himself into Justice Services in Clayton around 5 a.m.
It is unknown if the children witnessed the murder, but police say some of them found the body.
Authorities said more information would be released as the investigation continues.

UPDATE: Murdered woman's missing child found safe
Police had been looking for 30 month old Tiana McNeil since her mother's family told them they didn't know where she was. The body of 27 year old Tatiana McNeil had been found Tuesday afternoon in a weedy lot along the 9200 block of Riverview.
Police say early Thursday evening, a woman came forward and told them she'd been caring for the toddler for about two weeks, when Tatiana McNeil dropped her off. The woman, identified only as a close friend of the victim, told police that it wasn't unusual for Tatiana to leave the child with her for extended periods. Police also say that the woman didn't know her friend had been killed until media reports had aired about the missing girl.
The girl is now in the custody of her maternal grandmother. The search for her mother's killer continues.
