A massive pile up on Interstate 70 in downtown St. Louis today involved more than a dozen cars, but miraculously, no one was seriously hurt.

Shortly after 5 AM there were two separate accidents in the depressed section of the highway. The accidents involved several cars and a semi truck. Emergency crews were forced to shut down a section of the interstate to clear the wreckage. Police have not released an official cause of the crash.

But the roads were wet and there was fog in the area so those conditions could have played a role.

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A popular circus performer from St. Louis has been identified as the victim of a fiery accident.

Police on Tuesday said 21-year-old Reginald Moore died in the wreck. Moore lost control of his 2003 Toyota Corolla on Friday afternoon and crashed into a concrete support for a railroad trestle.

A passing motorist stopped and pulled Moore from the car before it completely caught fire, but he had severe head and face injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The injuries were so severe that it took days for positive identification.

Investigation continues into clinic crash

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) - Investigators continue to look into an accident in which a minivan crashed into a suburban St. Louis health urgent care center.

Authorities on Tuesday identified the man killed in the wreck as Marvin H. Meyer, the 88-year-old driver of the minivan. His 81-year-old wife, Gloria, remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Police say the minivan was pulling out of the entrance to a St. Charles Wal-Mart store Sunday when it was struck by a pickup truck. The impact caused the minivan to go off the roadway and hit the Our Urgent Care clinic.

No one inside the urgent care facility was injured. Occupants of the truck also were not hurt.

ALORTON, Ill. (AP) — A 16-month-old southern Illinois boy has died after being hit by an unsecured television during a car crash.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Marshawn Billops of Centreville, Illinois died Friday evening at St. Louis Children's Hospital about five hours after the car he was riding in crashed into a light pole in Alorton.

Alorton police say the television was a flat-screen weighing about 80 pounds. Billops' mother and sister suffered minor injuries and were able to get out of the car. Police say Marshawn was trapped inside the car and had to be rescued.

Court upholds use of red-light cameras

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A state appeals court in St. Louis has upheld the use of red-light cameras in the suburban community of Creve Couer.

In an opinion released Tuesday, the Missouri Court of Appeals' Eastern District sided with a previous St. Louis County Circuit Court ruling in favor of Creve Couer and its camera vendor, American Traffic Solutions Inc. The suit was brought by four people who received tickets for running red lights.

The appeals court has previously upheld red-light camera use in Creve Couer brought by another ticket recipient, ruling in 2011 that the city's traffic-camera ordinance enacting civil penalties was similar to a parking ticket rather than a criminal violation.
