Detectives with the St. Louis Major Case Squad are looking for a suspect in the execution-style death of a Normandy man.

Police say 30 year old Markquette Nunn had been using a weed trimmer in the front yard of his home in the 7600 block of Bermuda Court about 12:45Wednesday afternoon when someone shot him in the back of the head.

A neighbor heard the shot and came outside just in time to see a man running from the scene.  Nunn was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Nunn shared the home with his girlfriend and their baby son, who were not home at the time of the shooting.  A friend who also lived in the home was inside when Nunn was shot.  He told police he heard the shot, then look outside to see Nunn collapsed in the yard.

Police say they have very little to go in so far.  Anyone with information is urged to call the Major Case Squad – via Normandy Police at 314-385-3300, ext. 3018.

Three Marines are dead after a shooting at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia.

The suspected shooter, a male Marine, was killed from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound when authorities found his body inside a barracks building near the Officer Candidate School early this morning, Lt. Agustin Solivan told ABC News.

Authorities found a second victim dead in the Officer Candidate School, Solivan said. The gender of that Marine was not given.

The gunfire started at 11 p.m. Thursday when the suspected gunman killed a male Marine, Solivan said. The suspect barricaded himself inside a barracks building near the east side of the base near the Officer Candidate School, setting off a standoff with authorities.

The base had been put on lockdown but it has since been lifted.

"Marine Corps Base Quantico is Code Green at this time. All normal activities are cleared to resume," Quantico said on Twitter.

No further information on the victims have been released.

Pistorius arrested after woman shot at home

PRETORIA, South Africa (AP) — Olympic athlete Oscar Pistorius has been arrested in the shooting death of his girlfriend, police and the woman's talent agent said Thursday.

Capacity Relations talent management firm said 29 year old model Reeva Steenkamp was the victim of the shooting.

Police spokeswoman Lt. Col. Katlego Mogale told The Associated Press that officers received a call around 3 a.m. saying there had been a shooting at the 26-year-old double-amputee runner's home in a gated housing complex in the capital, Pretoria. A 9 mm pistol was recovered and a murder case opened against Pistorius, who is to appear in court later Thursday.

South African media speculated that Pistorius may have mistaken the young woman for an intruder.

Steenkamp tweeted her excitement about Valentine's Day hours before the shooting.
