Black Jack Man Is New Millionaire

BLACK JACK, Mo. (AP) -- Nearly two months after picking a winning lottery ticket, a suburban St. Louis man has claimed his prize.
The Missouri Lottery says Larry Lacey of Black Jack has presented the winning Lotto ticket from the Feb. 15 drawing. Lacey took the ticket to the St. Louis Lottery office on March 31.
He purchased the ticket at Black Jack Firestone, using Quick Pick to select the winning numbers: 7, 8, 11, 16, 18 and 40.
Lottery officials say that two winning tickets were sold for the Feb. 15 drawing, so the winners split the $2.3 million jackpot. The other ticket was sold at Larry J’s in St. Louis and was claimed by a man from Illinois in February.

Not only was the $96.5 million winning Powerball ticket from the March 22 drawing sold in Missouri, but it was sold at a Mobil gas station in Bridgeton.
The Bridgeton Mobil, in the 12-thousand block of Natural Bridge Road, will receive a $50,000 bonus for selling the jackpot ticket.

Missouri Lottery officials say no one has stepped forward yet with the winning ticket. They have until September 18 to claim their prize.
This is Missouri’s sixth-largest prize. The winning numbers from the drawing were: 13, 28, 31, 55, 58 and the Powerball number was 15.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri is looking for other sources of money for education and health care after experiencing shortfalls in gambling and tobacco revenues.
State budget director Linda Luebbering says revenues from casinos, cigarettes sales and the Missouri Lottery all are coming in lower than budgeted this year. Those revenues all are earmarked for education.
Gov. Jay Nixon is proposing to transfer $44 million from general revenues to make up for the lost education funding.
Missouri also is losing about $70 million of expected revenues from a legal settlement with tobacco companies, because an arbitration panel ruled the state failed to diligently enforce tobacco laws a decade ago.
Nixon is proposing to use general revenues to finance the health care programs that were supposed to get tobacco funds.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri Lottery sales rose to another record high during the 2013 budget year.

The Lottery says it sold $1.14 billion of tickets during the fiscal year that ended June 30. That's up 4 percent from the previous year's total of $1.1 billion.

Lottery sales have set new high marks each of the past three years.

Executive Director May Scheve Reardon attributes the increased sales to a new advertising campaign and several large Powerball jackpots. She also cites the beginning of a new loyalty program and strong sales in several other Lottery games.

The Lottery awarded more than $1 billion of prizes and transferred $289 million to education last year.
